CVD: Early Detection & Prevention

CVD is the leading cause of death in women – including breast cancer survivors

Up to 50% of heart attacks occur in people with no warning signs. Early detection saves lives — even when you feel perfectly healthy.

Up to 50% of heart attacks occur in people with normal cholesterol. Standard lipid panels often fall short — we use advanced testing to uncover hidden risk.

Statins prescribed to lower LDL cholesterol, can increase Lp(a) levels. Lp(a) is a genetically inherited and particularly dangerous cholesterol particle that is elevated in 1 out of 5 people, yet less than 1% of the U.S. population has ever been screened for it.

Cancer care is proactive so why is traditional heart disease care reactive?

Why It Matters

You may consider yourself healthy, or maybe you have a family history of heart disease, or maybe you know someone who recently suffered a cardiac event that made you pause. Regardless of your reason for seeking clarity, one truth remains: CVD doesn’t have to be the number one killer, yet it is because our current medical model does not screen for root causes or assess for early stage disease aggressively enough. People who wanted to understand their risk of CVD and prevent it are the ones I was able to help the least in traditional practice, despite my training and experience. I routinely saw young people who externally appeared to be the picture of health, even marathon runners, have heart attacks. I was trained to treat not prevent and that was not acceptable to me anymore.  I spent years expanding my knowledge and getting additional training, in order to create Nova Wellness and change that. My focus is on proactive cardiovascular prevention through advanced precision diagnostics and use of this actionable data to deliver highly individualized interventions.

We started Nova because the appointments we were trained to give were too short for the questions our patients were asking. That is why a first visit here is 90 minutes, and why the two of us work from the same plan. We both see patients in Roseland, and we would be glad to meet you.
